Basalt Roving instead of Glass Fibers?

I found this short video interesting: Monolithic EcoShell Built with Basalt Roving | Monolithic . It talks about a newly developed material called basalt roving. It is long, fine, hairlike strands formed out of lava rock (basalt). The comment is made in the video that basalt is very cheap and plentiful, thus basalt roving ends up costing way less than fiberglass fibers.

Could this be the next new thing for building FG eggs? Of course then they would be Basalt Rock Eggs... I think they would really, um, rock!

Hey! Scamp and Casita could really get into the theme by installing lava lamps... ok, my humor is getting a little rocky here... in the pursuit of a pun I will leave no stone unturned... but seriously, it might be a cost saver that helps keep prices down a little.

It's hard to believe we'd be running out of silicon dioxide (sand) any time soon! I wonder what makes basaltic glass cheaper than silica glass?
