We got the literature on the Scamp. It is not all that informative about the beds. I know that the dinette on the 13' makes a 44" bed and if you go deluxe wood, a 54 inch bed is possible. If you get the bunks on the other end of the trailer, can anyone tell me what the weight limit is on the top bunk? It didn't look all that sturdy in the little video on their website. Thanks, Cathy

We got our 82 Scamp secondhand & don't have a manual, but I would estimate that the bunk would not support more than 75 or 80 lbs. We removed ours so I can't give it a test.

As for the "big" bed, if you use sheets instead of a sleeping bag, a twin size fitted sheet fits perfectly because the cushions are only 4" thick. The standard Scamp bed is between a twin & a double.

Sandra is correct. It's for kids only. Best JL

for the record, I'm under the impression that the 2002 13' Scamp classifies the top bunk to a 175 pound capacity. I'm 135 pounds, 5'4" and regularly sleep on mine. It doesn't flex a bit, and I fit perfectly stretched full out.

I am surprised that they don't have it stamped on the bunk. Sounds like it may hold more than one would think. I have seen a lot of stickies with bunks where a repair was made to the top bunk which obviously broke loose from the wall. I always thought that Hi-Lo had the most impressive bunk, the one that dropped from the ceiling and they claimed it could hold like 300 lbs, I think. I guess if I could see the frame stripped that I would have more confidence in whether it would hold. I always thought I would do some home-made hold-er-up device to make certain no one got crushed.

We can all speculate, but the info needs to truly come from Scamp. AND, it needs to be by age of the trailer as manufacturing and methods have changed over the years.

All I can think, if someone heavy is on the top (more than a child), I'd feel really sorry for the poor person on the bottom if it fell....
