Everyone has bought something for camping, a gadget or a tool, that has become indispensible. What was your purchase that you can not do without.

On my old iron sided trailer it was a tire iron $3.00 for the stabilizers on the hitch. I am getting a "real" trailer, I would like to know some of the gear that you feel is a must, barbeque? Something for storing tools, camp chairs, and stuff, cool things.

Without a doubt my BAL leveler.

What are some of your other must have items?

Do you cook your bacon and eggs inside or out? I love that smell.

Arrow

1. 2000 Honda Generator

2. BAL jacks in front to really stablize the egg

3. Rear Carrier (Bikes and Misc.)

4. Coleman Catalytic Propane Heater (we do not have a furnace, if needed it is needed in deed)
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto..._-Search%20Page

5. 3 or 4 layers of egg crate padding on the bed

6. Orange leveling "blocks"

7. Small microwave that fits into the cabinet over the frig

8. 26 Gallon Water Tank to haul water to the egg
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...37114_200337114

9. 12v pump to transfer water from pick-up Tank to egg's tank
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...52044_200352044

10. Solar-Powered Battery Maintainer
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...63124_200263124

11. The Flooring material I used to make a cover which covers the shower floor

12. Folding chairs

13. Good investment but not used while camping is the Scamport

14. 12v air compressor just in case

15. The Second spare tire and wheel in case more than one tires goes out, hung under the tongue (tire and wheel size on the Scamps can be hard to find, as I found out this past summer in Minot, ND)

16. Least expensive was making a cover for the stove to give more counter space from a leftover piece of Corian, wood shop class at "my" high school routed the edges, All FREE except for some little plastic pumpers and non slip mesh; we would not want to live with it, sure helps when having limited counter top space

It was very hard thinking of one thing, we would not want having with us

Talking

Since we fully use of our bathroom, I would have to say the 2 Cyclone Sewer Vents. I was skeptical, at first, but Robert's reaction to having them completely offsets their dorky look. Mr. Nose actually enjoys the trailer more!

I think my most important feature on the trailer is the 80 watt solar system. I have two 6 volt golf car batteries and large capacity tanks for black, grey and fresh water. As I like camping off the beaten path, we are good for at least a week self-contained. Without the solar panel, we would need to probably run the truck engine for battery charging, or our Honda generator. The solar system does not leave a 'carbon footprint'?

Joe & Dave,
I have to agree with your choice!
Without my wife and her support of our RV'ing, it simply wouldn't happen. A supportive companion is most important not only for the maintenance and customizing issues but particularly as someone with which to share the travel adventures.

Next would be our extensively customized 19' Casita (Nuestra Casita) and her Tundra tug. The process to make our Casita fit us, actually began with the previous owners mods and then took us another year to complete. The first mod which makes "Nuestra Casita" usable for us is her 5" rise so she can be towed up the steep road to our home without the rear bumper dragging. The 2nd would be the reworked tongue which we had extended 24" (hence the 19' designation) and incorporates the mounting and cover for the Yamaha 3000 watt generator.

Oops.... I apologize for digressing far beyond a single most important item.

Thanks for starting this interesting topic. We hope there are many more replies!

gotta agree with that. I was fortunate to check and my wrench for my Dakota is the same as my Boler nuts.
