It appears that there's also some BLM lands and Coprs of Engineering lands that one might look at.

Ohio also has some state lands. try here

Byron and Donna D., thanks a lot for the website. We may go to one of these places this weekend. Terry

A friend & I boondocked a few days last week. We had a great site next to a trout stream on an old abandoned farm. The owner allows known acquaintances to camp there, as long as they keep it clean. There was even firewood cut and ready to burn.

If the firewood was cut, stacked, and waiting does that qualify or disqualify this as boondocking?
What ya think Byron?

AHHH, We'll allow firewood, even precut.

Yes, I agree, pre-cut left-overs are up for grabs. If some flat-lander drove wood all the way west to the coast to our boon-dock, and left it behind, taking all liquor, fish and tarps, the site is clearly deserted and should be cleaned up.

We scoop up garbage into our big orange bag, and hobby-log the split wood. We have hobby-logged our entire supply this summer. Re-use, reduce, Enjoy!~
