Box Elder Bugs

Fall is our favorite time of the year with one exception. Box Elders. Even with modern windows hundreds manage to get in. And doing anything outside next to the house impossible. I am so glad we got the house painted when we did because it would have difficult especially when you don't know if that sound is a wasp or a box elder buzzing your head. And the asian beetles have not even started. I don't think the chickens even like them. I don't think anything does.

The asian ones are becoming a problem here - the box elder bugs don't bother me as much as the incredibly stinky asian ones! But, they are all bad when they're in your house.

Fall is my favorite season hands down....I don't seem to remember the box elder bugs or the asian beetles being such a pain when I was growing up though....only the last 10 years or so....I know at my parents house, they have had issues the last 7 or 8 years with the boxelders....we always had an issue with the asian beetles at our old house. Thanksfuly our new house probably has less then 100 of the blasted boxelders, but they are still disgusting! The Burro we looked at last Friday had literally 1000's in the groove around the door....NASTY!

Yep, we were in Decorah last weekend. The boxelder bugs were all over. So were the lady bugs or Asian beetles (I think it was the Asian beetle that tried to hitch a ride on my purse.)

We paid homage to your Scamp while there. We also saw an Acorn in the Decorah campground. We were staying in a hotel in Waukon.

Cricket,

As you are looking, please know that Scamps before the fire are not made for tall people, so if someone in your family is tall, keep that in mind. Hubby is 6'1" and could stand in both our Burro and Uhaul.

So those after the fire are taller? Hubby is only 5' 10" but taller is better.

I hate those bugs. The door to the garage/office is south facing, and by noon is covered with those things. A few always manage to sneak in and I spend the rest of the day flicking them off of my desk (and arm!).

AS I live in Ontario Canada not sure whst are "BOXELDER " bugs.
In the fall the biggest problem with sitting outdoors is the bees, thet're collecting all the sweets they can setting up for winter, especially getting into your beverages.

Thanks Gary,
Would not like having a lot of these around, will deal with our bees, you can keep your bugs.

A very stunning picture for a pest. As the soybeans come out the beetles show up more. CinyL. we were out of town last weekend. Weekend before we were camping so we missed the trail dedication.
