We spoke at length about boxed milk in this topic...both the pros and cons:
whole milk you do not have to keep cold

Thanks to all who gave thier cold but great advice.
Just want to say we had a great shady campsite and the 2 plastic gal. jugs had ice in them right uo until the last day and as was said the water in the jugs were cold enough to keep things cold.
Alas we always bring alot of food home and this trip the fishing was great so instead of home brought food we ate fresh rainbow trout for 3 meals and even took 5 fish back home.
We did get a new cooler and by trying to open it only in the mornings and night and keeping it in the shade all day did the trick .
Thanks again
Gerry the canoebuilder

I have two other tips that I didn't see mentioned.

I also freeze the large (1 litre size) tetra pak juice boxes. They stay frozen a long time and make great ice blocks, then when you're ready, ice cold juice.

On very hot trips I wrap the exterior of my cooler with one of those soft, flexible windshield heat reflectors, helps to keep the sun off the cooler too, especially if we're day tripping and taking the cooler in the tug with us.

Gerry, your rainbow trout sound yummy! Glad you had a great trip and some luck fishing
