Camping in March in Denver area.

Any good campgrounds open the 1st week of March 2015 in the Denver area?
Need electric and bathrooms.

FWIW, my wife and I took a trip from Minneapolis to McAllen, Texas over Christmas. South of Kansas City it wasn't hard to find open KOA's and Casino RV Parks. I'm guessing it won't be hard to find a campground open in the Denver area in early March.

March is pretty early in The Colorado Front Range 17-70 degrees... I don't camp around Denver because I live in the area. I prefer National (or State) Forest camping. "Good" camping would be in the foothills to the west as low an altitude as you can find; the National Forests often keep a few CG open.

Specifically to the south of the Denver Metro area at the Chatfield (Reservoir) State Park they keep one loop open, D I think. I'm not much for private campgrounds but there are a number of those too I think.

The KOA in Denver East is open all year, that means electric and warm bathrooms. http://koa.com/campgrounds/denver-east/

I'm not aware of any National Forest campgrounds that stay open year around. However, there are at least two Colorado State Parks that will be open during that time and that have electric hookups. Try Cherry Creek State Park which is just Southeast of Denver and at lower altitude. Another possibility is Golden Gate Canyon State Park which is 30 miles West of Denver and quite scenic.

Cherry Creek SP is very nice, if they're open at that time of year. We've camped there lots of times in the summer. They have lots of electric sites; sites are spacious and bathhouses are clean and modern.

We stayed in Golden Gate Canyon State Park last June, very nice. It is in the mountains.

Chatfield reservoir has camping on the southwest side of the metro area.
