Camping in South San Diego
We are visiting family in Chula Vista this next week and we are taking our Fiber Stream to stay in. I am looking at RV parks that are not too far from Chula Vista. Currently considering La Pacifica RV Resort, Bernardo Shores, and San Diego Metro KOA. I have not been to any of these places.
If anyone has any other suggestions on where to stay please let me know. If you have any comments on the places I have found, that would be helpful.
Thanks,
Steve

I would strongly recommend SANTEE LAKES just East of San Diego on Rt 52. I'm not sure if that's close enough, but they were recommended to us by someone from the casitaforum.com when I asked about Casita storage in the area. Unbelievable place. They were so great to us and let us store the Casita for a week under shelter for $5 / day. They have a wonderful campround and all kinds of facilites there too. Check them out at www.santeelakes.com/ . I know it's not boodocking, but I doubt if that's what you're looking for.
Also, there is a State Park south of Coronado Island, right on the beach if you want to check it out there.
Good luck,
EKW

Just a note on Santee: Thin blood is recommended for summer in Santee.

Just an update to this. We did stay at the Sweetwater Regional Park that is in Fred's list. It was a nice place to stay for us and close enough to family. It was the most like camping in that area that we found and was the least costly. The other places I looked at were all crowded, RV style parks, and cost much more.
Thanks Fred.

Hi Fred, I hope you were able to take advantage of the trolley system while you were there?

Camping in San Diego
I have camped at Sweetwater Summit many times. Great park. There is also a Thousand Trails park in Jamul, 9 miles out of Chula Vista on Otay Lakes road. Thousand Trails is now taking campers who are not members.
