Te smell of coffee PERCOLATING.

Watching Kyra at the lake.

Hot chocolate, warm fire, chilly night.

Full moon and a calm lake.

Lightning bugs.

The smell of wet fallen leaves (autumn only).

Thunder and lightning storms.

Hot day, ice cold beer, in the boat, on the lake.

Falling asleep with Kyra curled up next to me snoring after a hard day playing. Odd I know, but it's kind of a snarffle, nasal, purring thing.

That smell...

Posted by bdavid, Member, of Ann Arbor, MI

That smell...
Maybe it's just the fresh air, or the combination of pines and cedars. It's that smell that alway sticks with me when i go. That smell that you can only get from being there. Everyplace is a little differrent, but it's still there..

Sometimes it's the combination of the water from lake superior, and the wet leaves of maple trees after a rain. But there it is...

I first notice it when i've set up camp and pulled the first drink out of the cooler, or hiked down to the river to get a feel for the trout situation. It hits me suddenly, the smell. I know that it will be with me for the next week or so until i leave... But it will always be there when i get back....

The "hoot, hoot, hoot" of the owl that won't shut up and let you get some sleep.

Laying awake listening to the bear break into camp, and eat the cookies in the spare tent with the food. Yea, yea. We were kids and knew nothing about bears and camping-yet.

Total silence that hurts your ears.

to each his own!!!!!!

the throaty roar of a Ducati 998 as it tips into a 4th gear sweeper at Road Atlanta.......and the smell of 115 octane race fuel!!! pure nectar.

the delicate, subdued staccato of a silenced submachinegun at Knob Creek........juxtaposed against the booming 'choppa choppa' of Ma Deuce in full regalia.....and the pungent bouquet of cordite and primers on your clothes that lets everyone know you've been having too much fun!!!!

Well, I like the quiet occasionally too.....
