canadian springtime

well, today was what would have been the first day of our reservation at gamble rogers state recreation area, near daytona beach, in florida.
unfortunately, we had had to cancel. so, instead, we were there in spirit this afternoon! dennis took the blower out into our backyard and blew us out a campfire site. only about 18 inches of snow on the ground so it was quite easy. there was no sand or surf....but the sun was shining and the sky was clear and brilliantly blue. -3C. positively balmy!
there was spring in the air. and some steamy hot tea in our mugs.
cheers, everyone!

That's the spirit!
We got about 5 inches of heavy wet stuff last night and today here in Minnesota. Looks more like Christmas now than it did at Christmas.
Oh well, like you say, spring is in the air...or on the calendar...soon.
Take care,

And there was no problem with mosquitoes and other creepy-crawlies, right?

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip south. Spring must be in the air! Went to the neighbours on Friday night to cook some hamburgers over the fire and watch the northern lights. Sunday got the snowblower out and blew out my firepit for a weiner roast the next night. Life is Good!

It's stopped snowing, Temp is going up to 1 degree {C} so I might go fishing. The ice should still be safe.
You can check us out at www.roads.gov.nl.ca/cameras/default.stm

And the snowblower has not been put up for the summer....

Even tho we set records in the rainfall dept this March in the great northwet we have seen lots of 50's(f) in temperature. I guess I don't feel quite so bad about the weather now-thanks.

Just got 20 cm (about 8 inches) last 18 hours here, west of Edmonton. Got the snowblower out to deal with it, but since it is 10 deg C (about 50 deg F), it was down to about an inch of hard crusted slush by the time I finished. What a spring!

We take it as it comes. More freezing rain on the way. We call it a glitter storm. Beautiful when the morning sun turns the trees into sparkling curtains of silver. It's over a month away but rain and snow on the two-four weekend are usually expected.

the ides (c)

snow falling to a seasonal melt
morning warmth lost in an afternoon drop to the norm
boots standing ready in the back hall
mitts and scarves waiting in pockets and sleeves
it is winter
it is spring
is it not?
enough is enough
it is time
I need a walk on a friendly beach
