As well as having passed a firearms safety course which was taken in Canada - that's the case for all gun ownership.

To all you folks who are letting the cat out of the bag regarding guns in Canada you are wreaking our whole national defense surprise strategy against the next US attempt to invade! If we are going to kick butt & strike fear in them like we did in 1812 we need to counting on them to show up with few weapons thinking we have none. be fearful folks be fearful we still have those natives and you just never know they may still want part of your head as a souvenir

Speaking of accessories, etc....

What should one wear when visiting Canada?

Must one kill and skin something and fashion it into Native Dress (using bones for needles?) immediately upon entry? Or are there other acceptable modes of dress?

Thanks!

Francesca

Very true

Plus, Jeff Healey, Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson, Oscar Perterson, Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo.... We are more than Shania Twain and Celine Dion too.

Not to mention all the great actors from Canada too.

Yes, for this I offer my most humble apologies.

So...can I mention KD Lang?

Her rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" for the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympics was nothing short of amazing.

And I thought it was moulded fibreglas.

Seeing as I am the one independent voice amongst all of you, I'll cast my vote for Quebec for eating - the perfect combination of American breakfasts and French evening meal.

And to give credit where it's due, it was this forum that introduced me to the wonder of Red Green.

Me too - we apologize for her and Mr Bieber! but keep in mind that to make up for it we have also recently given the world a few others to enjoy: Micheal Buble, K,naan, Johnny Reid, Carly Rae Jepsen and DeadMau5. Not to forget some great bands of past and current: Tragically Hip, April Wine, The Guess Who, Bachmann-Turner Overdrive, The Band, Rush, Five Man Electrical Band, Chilliwack, Loverboy, Barenaked Ladies, Three Days Grace, Sum 41, Arcade Fire, Blue Rodeo, Our Lady Peace, Feist, City and Colour (note that is the correct spelling in the Queens English) and Hedley to name just a few.

Few of the above are to be feared but there is one band I personally would like to apologize for on behalf of many Canadians Nickelback! Suspect many in the world agree they are indeed to be feared.

I saw Leonard Cohen a few months back. For a guy the age of my mother (78), he can still perform. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.

You SURE can!! That was amazing. I heard an interview with Leonard Cohen on CBC a few weeks ago and he said the same thing. The funny part of the story behind it was that she had not done the song before and she would not let the people organizing the opening ceremonies hear her sing it before hand. So they where sweating bullets about what she might do until she started to sing.

During the Olympics I was stationed in Whistler and by the time the opening came around I had already spent 17 days long days on the mountain getting the alpine race courses ready so I fell asleep as soon as the TV was turned on for the opening. My roommate at the hotel made me wake up so I would at least hear that part of the opening. So glad they did!
