Okay I'm new to this trailer thing and really not up on the lingo.....When someone referrs to their trailer as "Canned Ham" does it just mean it's vintage?
I searched the net but can't seem to find a good answer.
I hope someone can set me straight....if that's even possible

How does a "canned ham" differ from a "stickie"

Size matters?

Many early stick built trailers had a rounded profile with flat sides.
They had sheet metal exteriors and an edging between the top and sides.
this made them look verymuch like an actual "canned ham" stood on it's side with wheels added. Thus the moniker!

A "Canned Ham" is a trailer from the 1940's and 1950's that looks like a can of ham stood on it's edge.
A "Stickie" is a trailer with a wooden frame between sheet material (Plywood inside and aluminum outside).

Thus all "Canned Hams" are "Stickies", but not all "Stickies" are "Canned Hams."

There were a very few fiberglass canned ham style trailers made. Many years ago there was one on ebay but it was too far away for a practical purchase. I kick myself all the time for not buying it anyway. That would be the ultimate trailer to me, fiberglass on the outside, golden paneling on the inside.

One day I will find another, hopefully I'll be up to buying it and restoring it!
