Plain old acrylic will stick to these things?

It does stick...

When I went to find paint for this scamp, I didn't want to do a gel coat. As I said I'm doing this on the cheap.. Gel coats and their ancillary requirements was going to cost too much and this wrinkled old trailer would have looked like a shiny prune all dimpled and such.

So a friend who retired from Sherwin Williams recommended I try Sher-Cryl. A durable exterior acryllic based paint that is their best. $50 a gallon... Less than a third of the Gel-coast cost and much simpler to paint on with a brush.

Hence, The colored Acryllic paints stick quite well. I am going to put a clear hard coat over it all when I'm done.

Keep in mind that this scamp has already had a full life and I'm not really interested in how it will look in twenty years from now, like I would be if I had bought new....

Thanks!

If I work up the courage to start painting on mine, I might never stop! Great idea! :thumb

Mine is older as well, so although I paid a lot more and it is in much better condition than yours started out, I have decided to customize away. :dance

Paint and repairs

:wave
Don't be afraid to paint your old Trillium...
I've found it fun and relaxing too..

I found a few better photos of the work in progress...
Don't take many work-n-progress pics... I just seem to do the work and then wish I had taken more photos...

Anyway when it's done, I'll take a bunch..<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ede751f8da13box.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ede752d58b2fdoorliner.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ede754149ea5galleywood.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ede755c92fa2original paint.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ede756a72728roofrack.jpg/>

keep picking wrong pics

Sorry but I meant to show the cargo rack with this picture.
The add picture link doesn't give me a preview, and I'm new to forums. <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ede7661c3fc2box2.jpg/>

This photo shows the box best. I have lowered the box rack a couple of inches which allows my tail lights to be easily seen when down... when up the rack is above the lights... Tire under rack...

In fact with a couple of bolts I can move the rack to any height to serve as a table if I wish...

I didn't put a stove in the galley as shown above, but there is a double basin sink and I have a nifty Coleman road-trip grill which fits into this box perfectly....

Also this box does not interfere with the rear window opening...
I did plan that.

I almost took my Casita this year. I had only purchased it a few days before and didn't want Burning Man to be my check out trip.

Your little egg looks great - nice work:cheers

You burn too?

So Mark,

Did you go anyway? Leave the egg home safe and sound?

If I see another egg there this year how will I know it's you?

If you see one like mine, you'll know it IS me.

Happy trails

No, I decided to go play egg instead. I was anxious to test out my new toy.

My egg is stock, but I will probably use plenty of light sticks at next years Burning Man. Look for the Casita that glows.

A mouthfull

:cblob
Hard to explain what Burningman is in a sentance.

About 30 thousand people create a city in the desert that lives for a week. Artists build sculpture, cars and displays and people express themselves without reserevation or judgement.

Last year someone made a full sized Spanish Galleon built on a schoolbus with a full jazz band that tooled around as a shuttle taking people from place to place. It was only one of so many tremendous things.

There is a DMV (dept of mutant vehicles, streetlights and signs put up by the dept of publlic works, radio stations, two or three newspapers that are printed daily in the desert, a bookmobile, fire station, and tons more.

The big party is saturday night when they burn this 75' effigy of a man. You should see http://www.burningman.com/whatisburningman..._art_playa.html

Do come sometime<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee219a0a9c25artlink_6427.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee219b96a570gattovolante_10804_w.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee219cab1dd7steve_7354_w.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee219dd9264esteve_7356_w.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee21ad8ad92eartlink.6426.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee21b359002edalee.6783.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee21b6c0bed1davidhuang.6451.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee21bb4da659funkadeliq.7060.jpg/> <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee21bdf6ea1bkyer.jpg/>

One should also mention that tickets are about $225.
This does limit the crowd to mostly wacko professionals who want a taste of limited anarchy for a few days.

Burning Man

Wow. That is amazing. I had no idea. It would be interesting. Bill's daughter is just graduating from UW with an art degree. This is RIGHT up her alley. I wonder if she knows. I will be sure to mention it when we go there next week.
Thanks for the info!
I would love to go, but I think it needs to be in JANUARY, and where do you plug in the AC?? O.K., I'm a heat wimp. there's a reason why I live here.
