I almost took my Casita this year. I had only purchased it a few days before and didn't want Burning Man to be my check out trip.
Your little egg looks great - nice work:cheers

You burn too?
So Mark,
Did you go anyway? Leave the egg home safe and sound?
If I see another egg there this year how will I know it's you?
If you see one like mine, you'll know it IS me.
Happy trails

No, I decided to go play egg instead. I was anxious to test out my new toy.
My egg is stock, but I will probably use plenty of light sticks at next years Burning Man. Look for the Casita that glows.

A mouthfull
:cblob
Hard to explain what Burningman is in a sentance.
About 30 thousand people create a city in the desert that lives for a week. Artists build sculpture, cars and displays and people express themselves without reserevation or judgement.
Last year someone made a full sized Spanish Galleon built on a schoolbus with a full jazz band that tooled around as a shuttle taking people from place to place. It was only one of so many tremendous things.
There is a DMV (dept of mutant vehicles, streetlights and signs put up by the dept of publlic works, radio stations, two or three newspapers that are printed daily in the desert, a bookmobile, fire station, and tons more.
The big party is saturday night when they burn this 75' effigy of a man. You should see http://www.burningman.com/whatisburningman..._art_playa.html

One should also mention that tickets are about $225.
This does limit the crowd to mostly wacko professionals who want a taste of limited anarchy for a few days.

Burning Man
Wow. That is amazing. I had no idea. It would be interesting. Bill's daughter is just graduating from UW with an art degree. This is RIGHT up her alley. I wonder if she knows. I will be sure to mention it when we go there next week.
Thanks for the info!
I would love to go, but I think it needs to be in JANUARY, and where do you plug in the AC?? O.K., I'm a heat wimp. there's a reason why I live here.

is it worth it?
Dear John,
Either your Burro's or the alternative energy systems better be worth my walking all the way over there.
Also, which Burro would be yours?
I'll be with my friends at Fire Camp with the firefighters.

Tom,
Donna and I will be in the older smaller Burro with the solar panels hooked up to it. Susan and Paul will be our next door neighbors in the newer, shinee-er and bigger Burro. If I get the flag pole fixed we will also be flying a Mr. Potato Head flag just like we have in the previous 4 years.
We tenatively will be "Burro Camp"..... Boy, now doesn't that sound original?
We like camping in the AEZ mainly because noisy, stinky generators (even Honda ones) are banned from use. Noisy wind turbines are AOK though.

I"ll look for you
Dear Donna & John,
I will come look for you, thanks for the identification.
I know what you mean about loud generators. I have one. I leave it at home. Though I am thinkin of one of those quiet Hondas.
I wish I could afford what it takes to run AC off solar. Expensive pannels, inverter, tracking the sun.
I have 15W of solar but it won't sustain much. have to save up about a week's worth of sun to run a day's worth of music.
I do keep eyeing those 150w panels. Got just the place to mount them. Still have to make them track though.

Tom,
Yeah, your cargo carrier would make a reeeely primo solar panel mount.
I just mount my panels on the bike rack on the roof of the truck. two 50W panels tied together. This produces all the power we need. Our wants of course are much greater than our needs. I don't have any automatic means of sun tracking. This does provide enough power to run an AC inverter that runs an exhaust fan that keeps the inside of the Burro liveable.
We also use the water pump in the Burro to run misters mounted underneath the shade canopy. The misters gobble up about 5 gallons of water per hour. During the peak heat of the day though.. they really feel oh so fine.

never enough water
Misters are great. I power them from 5gal stainless soda kegs and CO2 power.
Works great because we homebrewers drain our kegs and this puts them back into use.
The soda kegs powered my hot shower last year but this year I've a new plan..
I made a 30'x60' shade structure that blocks the sun from our cars and tents and my scamp. Solar would have to be remote location for me. Oh well...
Honda???
