Carvisio--another new "concept" trailer...

Here's the latest and greatest futuristic design for a trailer, most likely designed by someone who has never camped in one:

The App-Controlled, Yacht-Inspired RV of the Future | Autopia | Wired.com

"Caravans are unsightly things, save the classic Airstream and a few trick teardrop trailers — and even those could use an update. That’s what the Caravisio aims to deliver, with a wind tunnel-honed shape, modern interior, and computer-controlled air suspension that automatically levels itself with an app."

Interesting concept. I like the sleek shape, the flush skylights and the way the entire rear end opens up. If they ever go into production, the devil will be in the details. For example, if you wanted that big rear hatch and ramp deployed, how would you keep the bugs out? Like Norm, I think there's a huge need for fresh thinking in the RV industry though.

The big rear opening is structurally difficult to handle. Our motor home friends have leaks around their slide outs.

Personally the exterior shape is OK. I wish one of the existing manufacturers had a design contest for the interiors of their trailers.

Practical or not, I agree that innovation should be encouraged.

The two most interesting points to me:
  • This is from Tabbert... orginal manufacturer of the Tab which is often mentioned here
  • The non-rectangular floorplan...

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.
