I have seen a few pictures of Casitas mounted on big trucks. I was curious if anyone has ever seen one mounted on a pick-up truck with the bed removed. Something like a F250 with duallies. That would seem like a good way to make a poor man's Earthroamer RV.
My (ordered) Casita will be a 17 SD. I'm just thinking long-term, like if I win the lottery, and wanted to turn the Casita in to a 4x4 RV.
Hmm, well it seems possible! Not sure if you could get the wheel wells in the right position for the truck tires, though, and if not the Casita would have to sit higher to clear the tires (plus the empty Casita wheel wells would look odd).
I am not sure the Casita is strong enough for frequent off road bouncing. You may want to add some reinforcements. I envision rivets popping as you hop logs and boulders, unless off road means beach camping.
I have seen a Casita mounted on one of those Mitsubishi large truck platforms, but not on a pickup truck platform. I think the body of the Casita would be too long. It's about 14 feet on the 17 foot version. Perhaps you could do the 13 foot Patriot version.
