Cb radios

Although the salt is still on the roads and we are [today] under a "winter storm watch" which means more snow and ice and then more salt, I have had to put my tow vehicle on the road.
Are CB radios still in use and will it be worth my while to install the old Cobra from my big truck days? Thanks in advance. D

I drove truck, and have a cb,but only with me when pulling the Scamp.I drive lots of back roads in No. Wis,MN,and U.P. of Mich. It's nice to know where the logging trucks are.I really don't want to meet one of those Mich 42 wheel logging rigs on a curve!

was thinking about getting my old cobra out and installing it too.
if nothing elsesetting it up so i can plug it in and use a magnetic mount when i do want to use it. would be real handy when heading for a gathering, or meeting up with others, or even convoying as a group to a site.
of course truckers still use them and they are great for finding places to stop, travel centers,,, not to mention smoky reports....

Send a message via Yahoo to Darwin Maring
I have a CB and use it to listen when there is a backup.
Also have a pair of FRS radios. If you purchase a pair of these B sure to get the ones that are good for 35 miles as they have many many channels.

for the cook to call you in from fishing when dinner is ready.

Both of my Cobra's are in the closet and wont be coming out anytime soon. After 23 years trucking the C.B. has only became worse and worse, most users can't speak English and the ones that do only cuss and argue on the radio.

I was going to put my old unit in my new truck but I picked up a Uniden for a good price. Much more compact and better display etc. I don't plan on doing too much 10-4ing but the thought is that there are times when it might be good to have.

No question though about FSR radios, we find them handy for all sorts of uses.

Greg H...That's why I only use mine up in the woods...no echo boxes or obnoxious slobs.I work seasonal forestry and enjoy talking to the log trucks. And on those curvy, gravel national forest roads,it's good to know when they're coming my way.

I still have a magnetic antenna somewheres in the basement. It's yours to pick up.

I've got 2 plus a walkie-talkie style one. Don't use them much, but they're always ready for an emergency(like when the power goes out), or when traveling in a 'pack'.
