Straight Talk Ho e phone:
Connect your home phone to it and get unlimited USA calling for $15 a month.
It is a ho e cell phone device that you can connect 2 home phones to, like a cordeless set and a regular phone.

Thanks for all the advice and viewpoints. No, I am not comfortable with leaving her home alone, and will not do so during MY weeks. Unfortunately, I have little control over what goes on the weeks her Mother has her. I am trying to find solutions to a less than ideal situation.

Cell phones and kids will put you in the poor house. Your bill for their texting the friend sitting right next to them will bankrupt you and they will have carpal tunnel syndrome by the time they are 16. My kids did not get a cell phone till they started working and paid it for themselves. Because of that my kids know the value of the dollar and what happens if they really cant afford something. Kids now-a-days are spoiled rotten and most parents are buying their love. No wonder the economy is in the crapper and kids expect all the latest and greatest tech stuff. Everyone is living on credit with money they don't even have and most will never be able to pay off in their life time. Out of credit and their answer is just get another credit card to rack up to the max.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Don't spend it all in one place.

So many different ways of viewing this topic of kids and cell phones. I'm glad they weren't an issue when I was raising young ones.

My oldest grand has had access to one (when his parents thought it would be a good thing for that event basically). Another just turned 15 and was delighted to get his dad's old one - just a basic model.

I find it isn't just the kids who have problems with these devices. At Christmas I had difficulty taking family snaps because most of the younger adults were sharing info by cellphone!
