Cold in the south
24 tonight with expected low of 18. It's damn cold for the "land of flowers". I'm warm and toasty in the camper with a space heater on low.
I know that there are places where it does get a little colder but this is frigid for Florida.

Gotta watch out for that global warming. N.Y. Times said today all that snow you easterners are getting today is more proof of global warming.

Twenty-five degrees (F) this morning, close to 70 for a high tomorrow. One nice thing about the gulf coast is you can go camping all year if you choose the right days.

Hi Alf, you're right. Some people or organizations are shameless when attempting to justify their agenda.
I spent all my Elementary School years in Toledo Ohio and High School years in Lake Forest Illinois in the 50s. The lake effect snow is miserable.
I have to laugh when I see the panic now days because of a snowstorm.
I walked to and from school in many snowstorms that cause a panic today and close schools.

perry---you are bang on! it's not global warming on the east coast---it's WINTER!!!
here in new brunswick, we watched ourselves be featured on the news both from the states and within canada....trouble is, we don't think we've had a blizzard, just a little dump of snow--like normal for this time of year!!!! go figure.

Well said, lived in PEI and yes the east knows snow theresa p
Don't seem as cold these days and the snow keeps melting so seem to be less of it just the slush is not as easy to drive in. Damp though only a couple of days in the -20's so far and winter will not last much longer. But at the start did I read 18F in florida wow. That is frigid Florida Davie B
Well have to run Keep warm

ahhhhhh.....we're a little chilly here, yesterday and today were around -35C. but you know, it may be only 18C in daytona right now ( according to the weather network online) but that is downright balmy to me! i'll take it!!!!!!
p.s.----florida, you can turn the heat up in about 2 weeks when we leave home and begin our journey south to you

Well said. In Scotland we had the coldest December on record, but a look back shows that about 50 years ago we had much more snow. I think the weather is cyclical and that we just have to accept that our temperatures may change over the years.

Now if you go and stand out at the corner of Portage and Main in January with nothing on but a bathing suite then the locals will say you have gotten real use to it! :-)))

It was shorts and shirts sleeves weather the last few days here in Tampa Bay. It's been cooler than normal, but way better than back home in the Midwest.
Changeable, but overall a very pleasant January. Decent enough to get out on the water several times, which beats last January all to pieces...

Oscar the Smiley Dog & I are currently in the Big Bend, near Terlingua, TX. Apparent temp outside = 9 degrees F. Inside the Wonder Egg, we're happy at 67.2 degrees F using only a small ceramic heater.

Here in Tulsa we just got an all-time-record 14 inches of the white stuff today. We generally average 8.8 inches per year. Low temps will be below zero for a couple of nights. You Canadians need to stop drafting that cold air down here, right now! We aren't used to this stuff!
A buddy was out in it with his 4WD pickup, pulling people out of ditches. But when he saw a snowplow stuck in the snow, and a tow truck trying to get it out was also stuck, he decided to head home while he still could.
To think we were in short sleeves (70s) just 3 days ago...
