It's a trailer. No, it's a houseboat. No, it's BOTH!

It's a Creighton Gull. Looks to be fiberglass and it's certainly cool.

The trailer frame stays attached in "marine mode", but I wonder if the tongue might hinge up? It would be weird to sail if it didn't and mechanically a concern for towing if it does.

There has some discussion of this type of RV in the Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers forum, but this is still a rare find, and (as it appears to be at least partially - roof and hull - made of moulded fiberglass) of special interest here. Thanks, Mike!

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

If I had an extra 4K, Gina, I'd buy that 13' painted Casita/something in Anchorage that's on Ebay! MINE!

Wow! That is definitely a rare find and something you just don't see everyday. My only concern would be the same as Brian's... Does the tongue stay attached while in the water? I'm a huge fan of the Trailorboat, but this is just about as cool or maybe a little more!

That thing needs an outside walkway just so you can step out to tie up to a dock. Mabee something that folds up when in towing mode.

There's a fellow on the Teardrops and Tiny Trailer forum who's trying to build his own version using pink foam overlaid with fiberglass. That's been an interesting story to follow.

Course if the tongue DOESN'T hinge up you could still use it for ramming discourteous boaters.

Mike

The brochure picture was in a book I remember reading on either houseboats or the California delta, don't remember which. I thought it was cool then.

There's lots of other info on the net about these things. Just google search the name. It -IS- a cool idea and had been attempted in various forms over the years (including a modern million dollar class A I saw on HGTV about a year ago). There just isn't enough demand for something like that for it to make a serious impact however. I can't imagine the frames surviving well on them and it's got to be horrible on the wheels/hubs/axles etc. One thing I'll say though - by using an outboard engine - they ARE able to eliminate the sort of seal issues you'd expect to have with something like this.

Terra Wind Motorhome. they've updated the webpage and it's got some really cool ones, in addition to the Terra Wind.

That might have been it. I don't recall, but what are the odds there are TWO of the darn things being made?

I can't really tell just by looking at it though. Except for the "go in the water" part - all of the big class A's look the same to me: Big tour buses.

And to think we grumble about how annoying leaks in our trailers are!
