The sentry. There were actually two llamas at this location and they woke me up in the mornings by peering in the windows and rotating their ears like little autogyros.

Hectór, herder and sentry. Along with the dogs and the llamas, Hectór keeps the flocks safe from the bears, lions, coyotes, and wolves that live in these parts. Hectór no tienes el inglés, pero es un buen tirador.

The sun rose to the right of these every morning. I could never tire of them. They are the Peaks of the Brazos.

Here we are taking Hectór's home to a new grazing location. It isn't really mine. Hectór refused to swap.

That's what they call this rig: "the camp." It's not a trailer, or a camper. It's "the camp"-- or el campo.

This is the little village nearest to the main ranch. People would ask me where I was from and I would tell them "Mi cuerpo es de Pennsylvania, pero mi alma es aqui in Nuevo Mexico." (My body is from Pennsylvania, but my soul is here in New Mexico.) Can you tell I love this place?

He needs a bigger propane tank. Trust me, he'll run out at the most inconvenient time! :o
