Dexter Axle Company Sold

Spotted a thread over on CasitaForum. Folks are discussing if the issue of the sale might be related to the lawsuit brought forth by the National Forest Service because of the Mustang Fire.

Read the sale info here: Dexter Axle being sold to equity firm

and the lawsuit legalize here: U.S. v. CASITA ENTERPRISES, INC.*-*Filed: March 16, 2010.

For those on the CasitaForum, find the thread here: http://www.casitaforum.com/invboard/...ter-axle-sold/

Hummmmmm.

Let's see:
Joe drives Casita on forest road and breaks an axle
Joe drags Casita with a broken axle until it starts a really big fire
U.S. sues Casita and Dexter
Casita blames Dexter and bails out

I guess Joe didn't have any money to pay for being really stupid????
BTW: How old was the Casita?

I didn't see the outcome of Dexter v. U.S. .. What happened?

If Joe built a camp fire that got out of control would they have sued the match company?

Hi: Donna D... My guess is that the U.S. Military won't be buying any more Casita's for personnel use!!!

Dexter has been owned by a British-based company since 1990, and that conglomerate's latest annual report doesn't reflect that it's in trouble.

I think this is just a run-of-the-mill sale, especially since the lawsuit mentioned was dismissed against both Casita and Dexter more than two years ago.

How would you not notice that things are not towing normal?
There had to be a rather bad load put on the tug.

Quoting from this article , published not long after the fire:
Quote:
According to witnesses at the scene, the driver of the camper realized what had happened and pulled over to try to put out the small blaze but was reportedly ordered by Ashley National Forest Service employee David Chavez to continue to drive. The man went on dragging the broken trailer with its axle grinding the pavement and sending sparks sailing, creating new blazes.
