Does anyone know if the stovetops can be rigged to work on those little propane canisters instead of the regular 20 lb. propane tanks? Why would I want to do this? Well, it occurs to me that I won't be doing much cooking inside the trailer - just making coffee or emergency use when it's raining. If that is so, then lugging around a heavy propane tank would be unneccessary if the stove could work on the lighter canisters. I could also use the space on the tongue to carry something else instead. Any help on this question would be greatly appreciated!!!

It's probably more trouble than it's worth to attempt to switch to disposible canisters. You might try getting a 5 pound cylinder and mounting it on the tongue where the 20 lb guy is.

Or.......remove the cylinder, the lines and the stove....put in a new countertop and use the portable stove inside.....

My Fiber Stream had been set up, by a previous owner, with an extra propane outlet in my kitchen. With the proper fitting, I figure an inlet could be installed just as easily.

The red spot next to my oven is a plastic cap, over a propane outlet fitting, on the end of a flexible hose, tucked into a hole in the cabinet.

Inside the cabinet, the gas line was cut, and a gas valve was installed, which feeds the hose and fitting.

I must go to the trailer and take better photos of this. Lizbeth's husband Eric had a sophisticated gas monitoring device which he used to confirm that there are no leaks in any of my gas fittings.

There are a few members here that have done as Jackie suggested. You could even do a tricky hatch to carry the stove when traveling (Where the old one was) or just leave flat and put on the counter.

Just get a "Steak Saver" cannister fitting (designed so that when your BBQs big tank runs out, you can just attach a cannister) and put it on the end of the requlator instead of the tank. In our small-RV case, it means we don't have to carry a spare big tank (In fact, I only use a ten-pound tank with a couple of cannisters in reserve -- The cannisters will last a long time just running the range, but I'm sure they'd not be suitable for reefer or full-time heater use -- I could run my Empire 6KBTU vent-free heater for about eight hours on one cannister).

Steak Saver

You can usually find these at places like Ace Hardware in the BBQ section. Be sure the requlator end fits the fitting on your requlator as there are several stfyles, depending on age.

CORRECTION: I can only run my 6KBTU heater for four hours; a 3KBTU Black Cat will run for eight hours on one cannister.

Hose extended, and cabinet door open, to reveal gas valve in stove's supply line.
