Geek Alert! Whoop! Whoop!

After a considerable delay due to a back order, I finally got my latest toy. It is a SD to Compact Flash card adapter.

My camera uses a Compact Flash card.

My smart phone uses an SD card.

I don’t wish to carry my laptop with me when traveling in order to read the camera’s Compact Flash card, and then download the pictures to a SD card just to upload the picture to the web with my smart phone. Especially since I have unlimited internet access with the phone. This card fits in my camera and writes directly to the SD card which the smart phone reads. I should then be able to upload pictures to the web while on vacation. Say, to a rally.

This card was a little under $60. I saw cheaper cards, but the SD card stuck out proud of the adapter which meant that it wouldn’t fit into the camera. Google on SD-CF1 and Minolta. I picked a vendor from Amazon.com.

The SD card I bought is doubly helpful because it flexes to expose a USB connection which allows me to plug the card into a USB port on a Window’s XP computer if one is available. I bought a 512 Mb card for this application. My camera resolution is currently set for a little under a 1Mb picture giving me scads of storage in the card.

I think it's way cool, Steve, that you got a "SD" card to use when you're out camping in your "SD" Pretentious.

I hadn't caught that!

Of course, any scale that has me on it as Cool is definitely grading on a curve!
