Dimensions of the scamp 13

Question:

Does anyone know the outer dimension of the Scamp 13 without an AC unit?? I was wondering if it would fit in my single car garage. My interior of my garage is approx 17ft in length. 9'3 in width and 8'6 in height.

Thanks,

Derek

Depends Derek. New? Used can be nearly any height. Axles settle, axles get replaced with different angles, bigger tires put on, etc.

I know my 1988 16' Scamp Deluxe probably wouldn't fit for reasons mentioned above.

This was our 2016, with no roof A/C going into a 6'11" doorframe. 7' garage doors are rarely more than 6'10" to 6'11" in useable clear height. 9 feet door opening rough, more like 8'10" because of weather strippng found on most doors as well.

The Scamp unit is called a 13' because that is basically its overall length. I'd say no longer than 13'6" max.

To accomplish this, the trailer had flat tires. (all air removed), the top cap of the Fantastic Fan removed. (easy enough, just 4 screws) and still….. We had to use the tilt method. Very tedious. Raise the front teeter totters the back. Likewise, once half way in, level and finally, raise the back to lower the front a bit and ta da.

The tractor was used because of the 3 point hitch makes it easy to raise and lower the front hitch.

With the tires flat, the unit was 7 feet 2 inches high. If I had switched to 8" steel wheels, I might have snuck it in a wee bit easier. I just didn't wish to purchase either 8" steel wheels or set the axle hubs onto car moving dollies, which also might have gained some inches.

Tip: Push your door all the way up and clamp it with some squeeze clamps as temporary stops on the roller channel. The door needs to be pinned up and out of the way.

I guess it's probably a no go for me on putting it in the garage .The camper is a 2008 and I also forgot to mention that the previous owner raised the axel 2". Thanks again for the helpful info you guys.

Derek - The 'Interior' of your garage isn't nearly as important as the dimensions of your garage door opening. After reading several of the posts on this site, we chose to build our 16' by 16' 'Toybox' to include a 12' wide by 9' high doorway - to accommodate our Boler 1300, to allow plenty of room for future renovations. (Note: It also houses the 6X6 ATV for winter storage; and, NO!. we don't expect to consider a 'longer' replacement trailer.)
