Instead, why not get one of these little gems? We bought one at Walgreens, tried it, and it does a pretty darn good job of picking up lint and particles off a hard floor or carpet. It is run with a rechargeable battery and will go for a 1/2 hour or so before needing another charge. Standard vacuums are much too heavy to lug along and hand vacs require one to get on hands and knees. This little gem weighs only two pounds, comes with a full length handle, and a pick to clean the bristles.

I have a slightly lower tech one.. no batteries

Bissel Carpet Sweeper... just like Grandma had!

Thanks for the URL. I checked, but could find no prices listed. Does it do a good job picking stuff up? Het, as old as I am, my grandmother never had one.
