To be totally honest. Before I post my entry I cut and paste the text into my email and then do a spell and check and then cut and paste the updated reply back. Its not that I cant spell, its that I cant type quickly enough and I allow my checker to fix it. Back in HS do the people who took typing remember the final test where they take the key cap's letters off the old Remington Rand and you have to type a letter from memory. Those were the days. The girls were taking stenography for court reporting as that was supposed to be their bread and butter for the next 30 years of work. Hello Computers and dictation recorders.

I remember the manual typewriter class.
My first day the teacher marveled at my speed.
The first test you didn't have to type correctly,
just see how fast you could hit the keys.

When she asked if I had typing before, I said,
"No, I take piano lessons." We had to do that
on piano as well, so my fingers were already
strengthened for that.

I don't know how I ever got the touch for a keyboard.
Guess because the type writer finally became obsolete
even for me. It took me quite a while to move from
manual to electric. Think I still have that Sears typewriter
somewhere.

This is a bit embarrassing for a guy, but my two highest grades in high school (where I really did not apply myself much) were Shop Class (because I really enjoyed it), and Typing 10 (as it was a bit of a challenge). I could type 63 wpm on a manual typewriter. My mom had taught me the basics beforehand, and all a couple of us did in class was race each other in speed tests. I sure am glad for this to this day, as I watch most others my age doing the two finger typing method. It is so much faster, and accurate, not having to look at the keyboard as you type. Spelling out the words rapidly on the keyboard is just second nature to me still.

As long as I can read someone's post and understand it, I am good. Would I prefer that everyone proofread, and corrected spelling, especially when the browsers now point out spelling mistakes? Of course. To me it would compare to doing some kind of project on my trailer. Yes, I could do some patchwork fixes that would suffice, but I prefer to the best possible job I am capable of. I know this says something about me and my disposition, but I am okay with that.

The only thing I really don't like in posting is when people write a long descriptive without ever having paragraph breaks. I know this is me, but my brain starts to stall as the words run together, and I find myself having to repeatedly read what was written in order to comprehend what was said. My eyes just seem to go all buggy for some reason. Does this happen to anyone else?

Makes total sense to me. I get cross eyed and sometimes just lost.

(I get the same way with long greeting cards...I read the start and finish)

When I get e-mails like that I usually wind up deleting them before I've read them.

You know.................either break it up, OR, "Keep it Pithy.".............LOL
