Do you proofread your posts?

I've seen a lot of misspelling and strange sentences. When I proofread mine, naturally they're all PERFECT. (Don't I wish?) I find that I say and spell some strange things.

Sometimes I proofread and sometimes I don't. BUT, I'd never criticize someone for poor grammar or misspellings. Far too many other things in the world to worry about!

I'd rather be kind and helpful than critical....

Yes, I almost always read them twice. I also agree more kindness than criticism is generally a good thing and Donna personifies that.

Yes, I fix (many) typos as I go, proofread the text as typed, proofread in preview mode (if using the full editor), and read the posted final result... and still some errors get through!

That's annoying, but I believe that the intent of the time limit is to keep people from retroactively changing the meaning what they said after others have responded to it. The desirable use of the editing feature is to catch the kinds of mistakes that are the topic of this thread, and with any luck those are noticed promptly.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

Yes, I have to. My iPad (never me) loves to substitute v or b for spaces and then creates new words (in some foreign language) as it corrects. IfvIbdidn'tballvmybpostsbwouldblookvlikevthis. Brash (bRazv)

It's been three years since I retired from 32 years of teaching English. Three years without teenagers in sight, three years reading trashy novels, and three years with NO proofreading--mine or anybody else's. Pure bliss!

I'm not even sure the above was written correctly, and I don't really care.

32 years teaching. I only made 27.5. Enough was enough. I've been told that English is a "slangguage".

If anyone does need to change something, like add more details to a 'for sale' thread, or add information to a 'how to' thread, don't hesitate to contact a moderator. We can either do the edit, or make the post editable again so you can make the changes.

I have learned to be more tolerant with poor use of English, though I am not literary genius by any stretch of the imagination. My mother was always correcting us if we used poor English, something that I find myself doing a fair bit now too, and my siblings do the same as well. Tough breaking old habits.

Irregardless, your best not too loose it alot on folk when there wierd English is not perfect.
