Does anyone know what I just bought?!?

Bought this yesterday. Thought I was buying a cool, little trailer, because I like old trailers. What I got instead, was a camper. It’s either a tiny car camper or a big motorcycle camper. Fiberglass body, shock absorber suspension, and the dimensions are approximately: Box is 46x44, Bunk is approximately 46x76 when opened, Canopy is 33.5 at peak on open end.

Any and all info is appreciated. I believe this little thing to be from the 60’s. There’s no tags, markings or badges anywhere. I’ll eventually strip the frame and look for a manufacturer’s serial number.

Thanks in advance!!

Save a bigger version of the picture in a post. You can have it as your avatar but I don't know how to zoom in to get a better view.

Can't wait to hear how this turns out.

That is...something. I expect there is a canvass component as well. Well good luck in your search.

Not exactly in our wheelhouse but there is a lot history in the group.

Surely there was at one point. And no, I’m not calling you Shirley.

I wonder if it isn't a home-built unit. Popular Mechanics (I think that was the one) used to run plans for travel trailers, teardrops, etc. in like the 1940s. You might try tnttt.com and see if anyone there knows as their interest is "teardrops and tiny trailers". What is the material of the "box"?

The box is fiberglass.

I’d be surprised if this was home built. It is very well built. Everything is cut nicely and square. No jagged edges anywhere. My first thought was a sears or Allstate piece, but that’s probably because Sears was hot stuff in the 60’s.

yeah, my first thought was a motorcycle trailer, too, but it does appear to have a conventional ball mount, and most motorcycle trailers I've seen have more of a mini-pintle mount. and yeah, obviously its missing the canvas tenting.

I've pulled motorcycle trailers behind my bike for over 20 years. Always had a traditional ball mount, 3 different brand campers, and 3 different cargo trailers too.

Thats a motorcycle popup camper, missing the canvas walls.

If you have a title for the trailer, it will have the manufacturer's name on it.

ah, ok. I guess the one or two I've seen up close were being used with dual sport adventure bikes, and had a sort of eyelet swivel as the hitch

Perhaps you should log onto a vintage motorcycle forum and show the photos of it there.

It would have to be a pretty good size bike I’d think. This thing is about 4 foot wide z

Unfortunately, I don’t. I sure wish I did. It’s sat for a loooooong time.

I’m part of a page or two locally on the Facebook. No luck so far. And Indiana is a camper making state!
