Rule of Towing Thumb: Tongue weight at least 10% of gross weight, 15% better!
Probably the toughest part of of towing it will be backing up. (Worse than normal) If the tug width greatly exceeds the trailer width, by the time you see the trailer, it will be beyond recovery.
I speak from experience: Towing my tent trailers (either one) behind a full size van was good, until you had to back up.

I figure if I have to back it up, it’ll be a 103 times easier to just disconnect it and reconnect it once I have the towing vehicle repositioned.

I don't know about putting gen on tongue (unless it's a real 'lightweight'). Can't judge tube size of tongue, but it doesn't look very large.
You wouldn't want to bend it.
Is axle centered under box, or toward rear (preferable)?
On my 'Cycle-camp' (OA length 10') the axle is 2' from back end, so it has high % tongue load (tows like a dream @ 90 MPH).

Paul wouldn't hesitate to move Shelly by hand. Even loaded, tongue weight was no problem. On the other hand, he didn't seem to have any problem backing up with Shelly--lots of farm practice with tractors and fertilizer carts as a kid, maybe.

The frame tubes are something like 1.25” OD. Since someone added a frame and tie downs for a cooler, I’d probably just load one up and strap it down on the tongue then load the box with other things. The generator would go in the bed of the truck.

Good plan, probably easier to lock it down too.
When loading trailer, concentrate heavier things ahead of the axle bulky/lighter things aft, and always maintain positive tongue loading, never negative or 'Neutral'.
