Does My Fifth Wheel Look Ugly?

There was a pretty heated thread going on the Scamp site about the looks of a 5th Wheel Scamp. Admit it's is not as petite as our 13" was but I think she looks pretty narly looking especially hooked up behind the matching white Tundra.

....even looks good from this side of the country too. I think the Scamp 5th has a sortof retro look to it and I like the smooth flowing lines!!!! But than again, at my age ANYTHING with smooth flowing lines looks good to me, LOL!!!!

Love the one you're with! As I mentioned on YahooScampers I thought "Ugly" was a bit harsh. I prefer "retro."

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Currently these are the only current all molded manufacturers to choose from that are making 5th wheels

Keep in mind where the comment came from. Meanwhile, let's enjoy our white on white 5er/tug combos. I'm headed to Lake Havasu with ours next week.

I have a 13 Scamp which I am very fond of,I would't want anything else, but I think the Scamp fiver carries with it a clear vision of it's heritage and has a distintive and attractive appearance!

Hi: All... Beauty is in the eye of the "Beer Holder"!!! Larger fiberglass trailers only have a "Cute Factor" to owners of "Bulgemobiles"...not 13'ers.

Appearance in fiberglass trailers is not really very important. They all have a certain retro look even the modern Escape 5, which I like. The thing that matters most is fitting your desires and needs. All RVs are trade offs in something. The 5er gains an always ready bed, but loses the storage area of the truck bed.

I actually think those big boxy things are ugly compared to any molded fiberglass trailers.

the 5er is fine, but is sure makes the Tundras Butt look big.

the Scamp 5er does sorta look to me like a bumper pull trailer with an upper bunk grafted onto it. They didn't design the mold to make the transition less obvious. That said, if I were into 5ers I would sure not let that stop me.

I wouldn't at all call it ugly, or even homely. Maybe... less refined? Not as sleek as some? I'm sure some find it very attractive. Hey, when I first got my Burro I thought it was kind of homely, but it's grown on me and I will miss its (what I now perceive as) retro cuteness.

My wife resisted us buying an egg-type camper for years because she thought they were all so ugly - said they had an "outhouse on wheels" look. Now that we have one she says she is "starting to like them," she won't say they are cute yet, but I think that's next.

If the 5er is ugly Why do so many people Say "my what a cute little trailer you have". Or being flagged down on the road for a look at your cute little trailer. Or getting a discount at a ferry bording because you have such a cute little rig. We camp with friends with large stick builts an no one ever comes over to see their cote little rig!!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, or at least not to rain too hard, have you ever stepped back and considered the external aesthetics of any trailer or motorcoach?

Let's think "Retro" for a moment. The current reigning royalty of trailer "retro" are the Airstreams, also known as "Silver Turds." Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but it takes a lens with a really, really soft focus to turn "turd" into "art."

For my likes, I try to make the inside of my trailer beautiful. The outside . . . well, if it can't be beautiful, I'll just have to live with "quirky."

They have their own look and isn't that great to not be a clone of any other 5th wheel.

You surely know it's a Scamp 5th wheel...no doubt of that.
