Dub Box Trailers?

And yet another new fiberglass trailer makes its debut, according to this article in Men's Journal:

A High-Tech Trailer with Retro Appeal - Dub Box USA review - Cars - MensJournal.com

Pretty soon, half the population of the US (and their dogs) will be making their own brand of fiberglass trailer.

Dub Box came over from the UK and set up shop in Portland Oregon in 2012. Totally customizable rigs; quite a few are set up as food carts!

Interesting how the specs have changed since launch in 2012... dry weight's gone from 1323 pounds ( 2012 link) to 1800 pounds at the present webpage. ( link)

New weight does include battery, propane bottle, and spare, but that can't account for all the new weight. Could just be more accurate, I s'pose. Cargo carrying capacity is given as 1,000 pounds, so gross is pushing 2800. Heavy for such a small space!

Tongue weight will have to be in the 250-300 pound range for stability, so I guess their original "small car tug" market has been rethought.

It's "Cute" but I don't see it as filling most FGRV peeps needs re: a similar priced new FGRV. And it's very heavy for the space provided.

At a base price of $20,000 it doesn't include all that much and even the pop-top is an unpriced option.

But great for uncured VW junkies. BTW: As I am a cured VW junkie I know well of the malady of which I speak.

I am smitten - but not tempted (well, maybe just a bit).

Having owned a '66 and then a '67 VW Transporter back in the day my nostalgia fancy is definitely being tickled (but I still like our Scamp).

Leslie - YES - please tell us all about yours when it arrives. Pics, pics, pics !!! (BTW neighbor - we're in Asheville too).

After checking out Dub Box's website I do have to say that they look like they would make a great food cart. I think they'd be a huge hit at music festivals, vintage car meets, street fairs - you name it.

Hmmm...how about a $5.00 cup of coffee with a picture of the Dub Box Coffee Caravan on it?

Steve and Janna,

We're practically neighbors. I'll be happy to sell you a $5 cup of coffee from my future dub box.

I think they're NEATO. Not for me, but neither is a number of other all molded towables. Isn't it grand we're not all alike? Makes for far more interesting posts.

Think I read it wrong..........LOL

I was thinking of the souvenir cup at that price.
I can see the $5 price for the coffee.

But I hate paying $2 when I eat out.

I think you got something there.
A molded trailer "cup" collection.

Is that a PushMe or a PullYou or both: a twin engine Pushmepullyou? I'll have to ask Dr. Dolittle, he will know.

I'll bet that it spends a lot of time on that trailer though.....

Question Coastal Envy

Why does it seem that the people on the east coast like the rigs made on the west coast and vice-versa?

On the cycle/VW rig: how does that front wheel handle hard braking?

Re DubBox: I notice that the entrance is on the left (street side).
I have had it with canvas after tent camping for 30 years, see photo

Maybe that's the British/Japanese/etc. version.
