Jim B:

She has at least four in the nest? And high rise accomadations. Cedar Rapids, Ia started Perigran's nesting downtown a few years back. Hopefully if the weather ever gets right I will be able to bike out to the nest and see the young eagles roosting away from the nest.

Once the babies come it's neat to see whats in the nest to eat. Fish, squirrels, rabbits. The nest in actually in someone yard. So if your interested in this kind of thing you can go to www.raptorresource.org and even cruise around Decorah from the air.
Cindi,
I heard about this site from another blog and I watched every day from about when the first chick was hatched until after they fledged. It was fascinating. Really appreciate what the folks at Raptorresource have done. BTW. Decorah looks like a great place to live. (Although it's nice too where I live in Victoria, BC)

The Eagle Cam has shut down with new and improved footage for next year. Decorah is a great place to live and that is why we have maintained our residence here inspite of having to live and work other places far away.

To fill in your 'bird fix', I can offer you this latest national obsession in Britain - following five cuckoos that have been fitted with GPS trackers. Unbelievably, science has not been 100% sure about what they do between Britain and Africa when they migrate and tracking these birds is intended to answer that question.

Tracking cuckoos into Africa

Lyster, the fifth bird, has just set off this week - he was so much later than the others that his progress, or not, made it onto the national TV news!

They have collared the female eagle and have tracked her into Northern Wisconsin 159 miles from the nest. This is being watched by the same web site as the birth though they have not updated anything since the 14th. The collar will fall off after three years about the time I assume she will start to mature.

As the secretary in my school said, she is hunting for a boyfriend. She is following the Mississippi where there are lots of eagles.
