On my way home from Nevada I stopped at my favorite FS campground in the Sequoia National Forest on Monday night. Woke up on Tuesday morning, 10/12, and it was snowing. I was only about 60 miles from home but had to go over Sherman Pass which is about 9000 ft.
NO chains, so I ended up back tracking taking a short cut on 18 miles of BLM gravel road about 2/3 of which was washboard. My 60 miles turned into a 135 miles.
I'm not complaining, it was great to wake up to the first snow of the year. I forgot how nice it was to hike in the snow. It turned out to be a very interesting trip.
I rescued a 4 y. o. Shiba Inu last April. She was the typical indoor pampered pooch until she came to live with me. She's a camper now. She loved the snow so much I had a hard time getting her in the PU to leave.
