Cool Earthbound RV

Saw one of these in a rest stop on the way to the Champoeg NOG:

Earthbound RV | A New Kind of RV

Looked really different. The couple was from BC. and were on their way to the Oregon coast.

We looked at these early in our RV search....very cool retro art deco inside....more first class Orient Express than aircraft to my mind. Very nicely made, but out of our current budget.

While it's always nice to have choices, this thing is too large for real travel, but if you have single destination trips in mind and like large tow vehicles, it is pretty... Still for that purpose, I'd go with a Bigfoot.

You mean a T@da or the T@b? I had one of those. The Earthbound is a nice trailer, a little on pricey side, but no wood, all composites. I'm a member of their forums and they seem to be faltering in their sales. Several dealers are selling off their inventory.

Dealers might selling off inventory due to the company going to factory direct sales like scamp. It would be fun to see the sky view interior in person.

I saw one of those in Red Bluff, CA, in Feb. I thought it was neat looking. BTW, nice RV park there right by I-5. Needless to say we were the smallest thing there.

That's a darn shame about Marion IN and the Hoefers but does point up the current reality of low demand in the luxury market.

This makes me sad

Seybold said the Hoefer family tried their best to make the company succeed.

“They took everything they could to make it work and they lost everything they own,” he said.

There are so many good ideas out there....

I'll second those sentiments Donna. Its always a shame when an entrepreneur pours their heart, soul and cash into a business and it just doesn't succeed. The RV industry still isn't out of the doldrums.

Upper end market is a tough sell in most RV's including eggs.

I think that Earthbound started in the 40-50K range, had difficulties and tried to re-position into the $90K-$100K and even higher range and had even more difficulties. Sadly, I've never seen one outside the internet or magazine pages - but they sure seem to have tried to produce a new and unique product albeit at a mind-numbing price.
