And, another thing that is strange. I have emailed many sellers to send pictures. (I try to be open minded) Only 6 out of about 25 people ever sent pictures. No one usually answers me on ebay either.

I'd wonder if you aren't losing emails to a spam filter.

Sharon,

That looks like a nice FD in Hatch NM that I listed in the referrals last night. Should be within 500 mi.

I'd call them up and talk, tell them what you can get a new one for but you would rather not wait and see where they'll go on pricing. Make your deal over the phone conditional on passing a final inspection when you come to get it. I would think that you could get them to go a fair bit under the "new price" if you haggle a bit.

That is a SD, and does not have the Captain's chairs. Any of you who have been in the 16' and 17', do you notice a big difference in height? We are small people, but the 16' is supposed to be much shorter. When I went to the factory in Rice, TX they only had the 17' to look at.

Greg - the one I called is #4928 in Cloudcroft, NM. It is listed as a 16' Spirit Deluxe. No captain's chairs in the SD

Sharon,
That is a different trailer than the one I listed yesterday in Hatch, NM.
This one is on Craigslist and is listed as a freedom deluxe. PostingID: 582875974 and was posted on the 22nd.

the 16'casita (which i have) is 5'10" inside..... the 17' is supposed to be 6'2" inside. i got the 16' because of the lighter weight and the stepped up rear bumper to get in my driveway which has a bad dip.

Much of the difference in length is in the bed. (The 17 ft. has a wider bed.) Another difference is the 16 ft. has a smaller fridge, and there is no rooftop air conditioning option. (Some people don't like rooftop air, anyway - and a trailer in New Mexico might not have air conditioning at all. Also some people have said the larger fridge with the captains chairs makes it a little hard to get around, so maybe the smaller fridge would suit you, too?)

I wonder if you could get the factory to give you the name of someone in your area who has a 16 ft. FD ... although since you're not planning to buy new, they'd really be just doing you a favor by showing you theirs. (There would be no commission for them unless you decide to order a new one.)

Good luck with it!

Just called the NM trailer. There is no shower, which is important. I think I'll stick to the 17'. It has everything I wanted.

The "D" in "FD" is supposed to mean it has a shower...

I think the "D" means it has a [b]bathROOM, while a Standard has a front gaucho/bunkbed.

I think it has the ROOM, the original owners just deleted the bath part.
