Just a thought in regard to the warm hub. Does it have brakes, and if so possibly a little too tight on the adjustment and a little drag there causing the warmth. Nice looking camper, and great time to buy with camping season approaching, enjoy.

Wow! That was really nice of them. Congratulations.

Congrats! I am sure that you, and your family, will have a great time with your Scamp.
I thought this when you joined. It is not just your trailer status that is incorrect, but also your user name. Since you are no longer eggless, maybe the Mods can change your user name to Cricket, or what ever.

I couldn't figure out how to change my name.....but i will change my camper status. It does have brakes....it seemed to be the warmest after the first 40 miles....wondering if the grease he put in was working it's way in? Had the other hub not been cold, i wouldn't have even noticed it..... mods can you change my name to "eggless no more"?

Congratulations eggless no more! About the warm hub, I always have one hub warmer than the other one- usually on the side the sun is hitting!

Congratulations Cricket! Very happy to see you finally found one. How great of the couple who sold it to you to hold it for you. Sure dont hear of that to often.

If the warm hub is bothering you the fix can be pretty simple and something you can do yourselves. Check the wheel bearings and replace them if needed. Checking the bearings and repacking them and putting on new seals is something that should be done each year anyways.

If you were to change it you could tag it with "alias eggless", or that might make a name in itself. Or __________ (aka, eggless).

Cricket,

Our 05 was equipped with Goodyear Marathons (I think) made in New Zealand (I am sure). They were the best tires. Did more than 30,000 miles on them and when we replaced them they still had lots of tread. Our camper was stored out of the sun so the tires were not exposed. We also took the weight off in the winter.

I don't want to start a tire war. Even though our tires were years old they would not have been changed out yet. since our trips are 4,000 mile journeys we went for new tires. There are so many bad tire stories. The New Zealand ones must have been the best of the batch.

Enjoy your trailer. Hope we see you at the Minnesota gathering in Sept.

This might sound dumb...but might the sun have been shining on that wheel with the slightly warm hub? sun should have been behind you.

On reflection. Our trailer only weighs 1500 pounds. We have no refrigerator, do not carry water, have no air conditioner. We seldom drive over 60. Those might be the reasons our New Zealand tires were happy.

IMO, I'd suggest changing your name from 'eggless' to Cricket (seems a little more personal). You can go up to the top of this page, and there is a toolbar under the tabs. Choose 'user cp' on the left side. Then under the Control Panel column on the left side, choose 'edit profile'.

You can change your camper info there. Also, in that control panel column is the Avitar control, where you can upload a picture of your new Scamp.

How funny that your kids got a giant EGG for easter! That's a story they won't forget very soon!

Ours has Goodyear Marathons.....and although I have read some horror stories on here, they seem to be just fine. The sun was indeed behnd us (how did you know that)....the hub was barely warm to the touch....the other one was just icy cold. This one has been stored out of the sun and up off the tires for the winter as well. Is the MN gathering the one in Duluth? I so badly wanted to drive up last year, but we had something going on that weekend....anyone know when that one is yet?

Almost forgot. Looking at the Scamp from the front, it seems like one side of the fiberglass dips down lower than the other...I thought I remembered reading this was on purpose and something about the door. Is it something to get all worked up about or normal? Hubby noticed it leaving the house and is sure something major is wrong.....
