email from a northern friend about weather

Just a thought for what it's worth:

Weather Conditions --- Just got off the phone with a friend who lives in North Dakota.

She said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is 32 below zero and the north wind is increasing to near gale force. Wind chill is -59.
Her husband has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare......

She says that if it gets much worse, she may have to let the drunken bum in.

I never thought I would be envious of people suffering 32 below zero and waist deep snow.

I live surrounded by the Sequoia National Forest near Lake Isabella.
The lake is down to about 1/4 it's normal size.
There's only about 3 inches of snow on top of 9760 feet Mt. Sherman when there should be at least 6' this time a year.
I took a drive up through the Piute Mountains and got to about 7500 feet before the dirt road became impassable for my 2wd PU. Not because of snow depth but because there was about a half mile of the dirt road that never gets any sun. It was ice and mud.
At 7500 feet there should be 4 or 5 feet of snow. There were only small patches of snow in the shaded areas.
This is the second year in a row there has been no snow in these areas.

I would gladly put up with sub zero temps if we could get some snow and end this drought.
