Hi all, Thought I'd announce that we begin our epic trip Wed. morn.
We live in Creston BC and are going for lunch,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
in ST John's Nf.
Google Earth showed me the shortest route, 6900kms
but wheres the fun in that
I will post from internet cafes the odd time with mileage etc.
Put new bearings in and good used tires, sealed up acouple of little
water leaks and we're off!
This pic is somewher in Oregon the truck will pull to Saskatoon
then we are switching to a big ol' white Chevy sedan.
If you spot us wave! Bolerites are great people to talk to.

Yes we're taking #1 but it's pretty much hardcore straight and narrow to Ottawa.
Thanks for the offer though!
If you come to BC let me know I've been on all the roads south of#1
the KOOTENAYS IS WHERE YA WANNA BE!

Donna ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I stole the avatar. I heard it used in a Ford commercial
a few years ago.
Chester, I actually live in Wynndel, 5 miles up the road.
Did you go past us on your way up the lake to the ferry?
Fred

We were through Creston last year via Crows Nest Pass and then this year via the US border. Creston has one of those great general stores that are becoming harder to find and which always seem to have everything - it might be tucked away behind the coolers and stacked on top of the July 1st flags but it's there.

I'll be driving the new Escape right past that FasGas next week. That's where I turn right to head up the hill to my brother-in-law's. Next time, I'll check in to see if Marilyn is there; but next time might be a few years off.

Yes, we drove straight through to Bozemon->Yellowstone via the #9 but on the way back we stayed over 1 night outside Coeur d'Alene and then spent the day travelling up Northern Idaho. We got pleasantly lost on the lake around SandPoint and then had a lunch bbq at the Sandpoint public beach - beautiful area and some of the houses on the lake were over the top.

Unfortunately whatever grass/hay they were harvesting around Northern Idaho gave my wife the worst hay fever attack she has had in 20 years so we had to drive right from Sandpoint to Creston that afternoon.

If you want to get off the beaten path, I saw a road on the map that goes through Quebec to Labrador, Then you can take a ferry to Newfoundland. Come back through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
