Rob, what they did was to eliminate the top bend, which was the one they were unable to do themselves (the outside track on the arm), by slightly lowering the top mount. It looks good. Tammy is the one who gets credit for the idea though.
With regard to the awning, I (for one) to not like that bulky looking awning assembly. I would tend to see IF it could be deleted (in the build stage) and opt for the ol 'bag with rail' awning with the top rail mounted at build time to hide the rivits on the inside of the trailer. This awning (IMHO) makes for a cleaner, less bulky 'look'. I also believe that, especially inn the smaller size trailer) this new awning stands out more. The bag awning itself can also be easily removed/stored at owners whim.

Doug, I am sure that the drip rail only could be installed from the factory should you wish to use the bag type awning. I am sure Reace could answer that. I do agree they would be sleeker and simpler looking, but after using one for many years on a tent trailer, I do like the rigidity and ease of setup of the roll out kind. That, and in windy areas they are way less stable.

the 17's now have a new mold, you can look it up on the escape forum (December 2008).

Hi: Doug... I was quite intimidated by the awning at first, but when I figured it out it is a breeze compared to a rope and pole awning. I don't know about a bag awning tho!!!

The 13' is absolutely cute as cute can be, and beautiful inside with the Escape all wood cabinets. Looks just like a minature of the 17'. Like all 13' FGRVs - it is a little egg on wheels, with a touch of BC class!
If I were single and shorter........this would be my dream trailer. Alas, tall and happily married I'm glad there is the 17'!

Check out the Escape forum for interior pictures of all their models, taken at the Humdinger RV show in Chilliwack, BC.

Hi Doug

Feel your joy. I'm already putting things together to take on our pick-up trip. Of course, everything has to be matching and the right colour - sage green with dark green accents. Oh, this is so much fun.

I saw them at the show!! Lovely little trailers, I want one... My wallet says otherwise.... I have some decisions to make. My husband wants one of those jumping jack trailers, I want either an escape or we fix up the boler and modify it to accommodate the dirt bikes.

And worth every penny, once you have been to the factory and seen the quality
put into these trailers you will think that price is cheap.

I agree.

Once my wife convinced me I did not have the time to rebuild a 17ish foot trailer to suit my needs (and she was right, but don't tell her ) I set out to look hard a each and every option out there, email/PM owners, read forums and reviews, etc. I really like what went into the Oliver but could not justify the cost, especially given the currency exchange (and not a fan of the white fiberglass interiors). Bigfoot was high on my list, but I did not like the bed sizes (and they were quite heavy) in the 17.5. It finally came down to the Casita and Escape 17's, with the edge going to the Escape. When Escape announced the 19, with a permanent queen bed (a permanent bed was an absolute must for us), I was sold on the idea immediately.

After dealing with Escape for a couple months now, and visiting them at their shop to go over the trailer and our wishes for it, I am absolutely convinced we made the right choice, and are getting good value for what we will pay.

EDIT: I do have to add because my post seemed so one-sided, that there are definitely many, many great options out there, and we will each find our own best fit, quality and value wise.
