I just got off the phone talking to Ian...he was calling from a pay phone....he can't get on the internet right now. Wanted me to tell everyone that he and Paddy had a good first night and are busy looking for where they stuffed everything in their rush to get out of "Dodge."

He also wanted the folks near Olympia to know they expect to be at the Maytown rest stop 1:00-2:00 PM today. Be patient, they're on their way...just have to stop and get some air in the tugs tires.

According to Escape's website the roof AC is not an option but I see one on Rubea II. Did I miss something or did Reace change his design?

I am really impressed with this 5th wheel. Reace has done a good job listening to our suggestions and incorporating most of them in his design. Congratulations!

Ian and Paddy, if you ever decide to travel along the Gulf coast please let us know. We would love to have the opportunity to have a look see. Thanks for sharing with us.

Greetings All:

Ian and Paddy liked the U shaped seating. We think this configuration might work better for us.

We also liked the modification of the taller counter height here, giving them a taller below the counter closet for hanging clothes.

No home would be complete without a faithful guard dog. Here is Gypsy.

As promised, here are some additional photos from our visit.

This step slides into a square receiver attachment below the door and is more stable than a standard step stool on uneven ground.

This bike receiver was an option Ian and Paddy added for future versitility.

Ian had added exterior work lights everywhere. This is a GREAT idea.

This concludes our photos of the Rubea II. If you have the chance to cross paths with Ian and Paddy, they are very nice people and we truly enjoyed meeting them.

Okay, my turn to add some pictures! Ian apologized for how dirty the outside of the trailer was, but HEY they're traveling in the Pacific NorthWET and right now our roads are covered with extra cinders/gravel due to the past week's snow storm.

Electric jacks! The switches are together inside a hatch (along with the jacks themselves), they can be run up/down independently or as a pair because the switches are together. Right above the hatch door is a bubble level, so one can see immediately if the trailer is level front to back.

All electric/water/tv cable/phone hookups are inside hatches. The electric and water hatches are lockable. hummm missed getting a picture of those two

Nice size pantry. Ian and Paddy reversed the pantry/closet. Wanted the larger of the two for hanging clothes.

The propane tanks are inside the trailer at the front. The only thing in this particular compartment. Dual tanks with auto-switchover.

Here is a decal map of the US/Canada that Ian and Paddy added to the side of the trailer. Bet they've got a whole bunch of the west coast states filled in by time they get home!

Did you happen to check the height of the Door. I wonder if it's a bit higher than the one in my Casita. That has been a prob. spot for me with the Casita. This 5th Wheel surely looks nice. Thanks. Dwain

No Dwain I didn't. But the Escape is more slabsided than a 16' Casita or Scamp and the door is not curved. I have a picture I took yesterday, I'll post it tonight. If I hear from Ian and Paddy, I'll ask if they can measure the door opening.

Thanks, Donna. Appreciated. I have the 17' Casita, and it has the slab door. But you do have to duck (which sometimes I don't do, LOL). dwain

I had emailed Escape on some stuff.. and also asked them who made their awnings.... I would really like to see Scamp go with this type of awning just because it could be a 'one man' operation. I know alot have complained about the case awnings they use...I know I cant set it up alone...

i hope you can see these support rails are curved ...

Dwain,
Don't worry about not ducking sometimes. My Burro door is a killer and after thirty or forty times of wacking your head your brain takes over and automatically makes your head duck when going thru the door.

The learning process is painful though.
