To say that these are a 'tad expensive' is a BIG understatement. But they are really unique! Most are made to fit the side track on VW vans, but I'll bet they are easily modified to be used on one of our little FGs.....if you could bring yourself to cut into it......

I always thought they were pretty cool.
I bought something similar to the one in your picture at the BusDepot.com when we had our teardrop for under $200, but I don't see any on their site now.
I was serious about acquiring a Euro side tent a couple years ago until I finally got someone to quote me the shipping cost "about 300 pounds" (UK money, not weight )...
Fiammas started looking like a deal....

I saw an R-pod with a similar tent attached in Tampa. I don't know if they're sold separately, as that R-pod had a different model number, ending with a "T" for tent.

In reference to the R-Pod tent, My husband, Adrian and myself rented an R-Pod in May 2009 and the tent was included. Setting up was tricky although I guess if you did it enough, you would get it down pat. the size was good but they had a long track to slide the side in and I think a 13' scamp because of the curve it may not work, the R-pod is taller too, and maybe height may be an issue. The pods I think were made by forest something. If I remember correctly the salesman said the tent was a 600.00 cost.
I have been looking for a screen room and I just might go back and look at those again

I think the R-Pod awning/enclosure looks a lot like the Dometic Dome Awning for popups at Camping World, but in zippy colors to match the R-pod graphics. Camping World's description says the awning is lightweight, and can be stored on the outside of the trailer. These run $520 to $600-something depending on the size.

Another option might be modifying one of the "truck tents" available at Cabela's and a number of places on line, for around $300 or less. They're made to fasten around the cargo area with adjustable straps...

Bruce, does that awning with the curved arms on the Escape include a screen room as we were discussing? I thought it was just the standard Fiesta awning, with the optional curved arms... I know they sell an optional screen room, but I thought it was designed to be separate. Haven't seen any.

Has anyone contacted a local R-Pod dealer to find out what once of these things cost? Maybe cheaper without the S&H...

Donna,
Calling a Forest River dealer would be a good idea. This r-pod blog indicated the dealer cost of the r-dome was around $400 last January.
