European egg coming to the USA

Finally it appears like some of those neat styles are coming across the pond. Fiberglass with bath. Looks like happy camper but with bath. Jointly made with Nucamp in the USA, the weight appears to be around 2000lb. European retail about $33000 but they don’t say what that will translates to in US $’s. Coming sometime 2020

Retro-inspired camper trailer is coming to the U.S.

The Barefoot Caravan will be manufactured in North America by NüCamp RV

bath? I don't see anything about a bath or toilet, and the pictures on nuCamp's site sure don't seem have room for one.

the UK site says a 1040x760mm bath, thats 41x30" ... and a 30l water tank, thats not quite 8 gallons. nothing about a toilet. the sitting area converts to a 72x72" bed... as a 72" tall person, I need about a 78" bed or my size 12.5 feet are hanging off the end. the camper inside dimensions are 11.6 x 6 feet, with a 72" ceiling. 2400 lb gross including a 330 lb cargo capacity. IMHO, Cute and Useless.

but, hey, it comes with a retro radio!!

Wow, you guys are kinda testy

Just trying to provide some FYI I thought was of interest. Not trying provoke anybody

“Retro Inspired Camper is Coming to the U.S
The Barefoot Caravan, a popular European camper, is set to come to North America by 2020. The egg-like trailer is roughly 16-feet long and features a compact living space that sleeps two. The retro design includes a small kitchen area, bathroom, and a seating area that transforms into a 6x6 ft. bed - which is a lot to fit into a small space; but despite that, the camper’s interior is reported to feel surprisingly spacious, with windows all the way around letting in wonderful natural light. You may want to see this camper for yourself - but unfortunately, we still have a while to go before the Spring 2020 launch.”

Cute, and shiny! But we'd have to see a floor plan/interior. Price at about $33,500 US is not out of range...but bath? Paul said only if the mattress fits into it for bedtime...I think he's thinking bathtub...I'd say no way, too, but you never know.

He thinks that thing on top is an antenna, probably for that "retro radio."

I like the Relic for retro, but although we are close to the maker, we haven't seen one. They didn't seem interested in our taking a tour. It's OK; we weren't really in the market.

BEST,
thanks for the link and info, all,

You can check out a walkthrough with the designer here:

The tour starts at 1:15. They don't mention whether or not it is a two-piece shell, but from the video and photos it doesn't look to be.

The lady who did the intro in the video I linked has a blog with some photos here: https://mandyleaphoto.com/2019/04/26/barefoot-teaser/

How squishy is your mattress?

I did some checking and discovered that in the U S of A approximately only 14.5 percent of males are over 6 feet so not being a fit for that group still leaves plenty of market space available . I watched the video and it appears this unit would sleep front to back , rather than the usual side to side we see on our shores , and hence could apparently fit the over 6 foot group as well. Lee

TWIN beds for us...but I hear you about the front-to-back position for sleeping in this one. It'd work. And it's not alone.

A surprise to me was that the table didn't form part of the bed platform, but stows in the front closet/wardrobe. OUR little folding table stows in the front closet/wardrobe/niche/"putin." Interesting.

How squishy is our mattress? Not very. 7" thick, over metal futon frame. Doesn't sag through the bars. Good ventilation so mattress doesn't mold...so far. If we wanted more squish, we'd have to add a topper.
