finding A part for my Scamp (that Scamp doesn't make any more)

Hi I am looking for A part that Scamp doesn't make any more (I checked) . My 1977 13' Scamp has the big window across the front of the trailer with the fiber glass cover over it...Well to make A long story short A previous owner cobbled up a way to keep the fiber glass cover on there after the brackets broke (and it makes it look ugly) But the worst thing he did was grounding down the hinge thing the center window and the cover all hinge on , I think I could make clips for the cover but where do I find the long hinge thing that goes across the top of the window ? Got any ideas ?
Thanks Jim

James I have a 77 scamp as well. I'm having trouble visualizing your scenario...mine attaches because 2 brackets across the top (kinda like hanging a picture)

the guard had 2 brackets on top and then 2 brackets on the bottom that snap it into place is this what your trying to get back to?

Scamp didn't make the draw catch to begin with, it like everything except the body and frame was manufactured by someone else ... I've found the draw catch for the front gravel guard at a local True Value hardware here in Portland, OR. If I was to buy again, I'd buy stainless from a company like West Marine. The set I bought from Scamp is zinc and it rusts unless protected... which I did with silicone spray wax.

If you don't mind zinc and can't find it locally try here: The Hardware Hut - Product #OLY-643N - Olympus Draw Catch with Matching Strike - EACH (Zinc)

Sorry but that is not the right part . My front window is made with 3 windows 2 outer ones that don't move, but the center one dose (it pushes out at the bottom) This center window & the fiber glass cover are attached to this long aluminum hing thing that is atop the center window, this is the part I am looking for.Thank You ! If its just a long aluminum hinge.....Lowes when they were Eagle hardware used to carry a 2" wide 3 foot long hinge . If this is what your referring to then try home depot or lowes in the hardware section

Here's a topic by Jenny W that discusses parts, etc. she used to rebuild the tilt windows in her 1976 Scamp. I hope you find it of use: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ows-42049.html

James, have you checked Camping World? Honestly sometimes they have the craziest parts that you wouldn't think would still be around. And sometimes when they don't carry a part anymore they may know where to get it. Worth a try if the suggestions you have gotten are not what your looking for. Good luck!

There is a marina near by here that has a lot of used and new over stock marine hardware. I picked up a 2ft long stainless steel piano hinge for my boat for about $4. If your interested, send me dimensions and I'll see if they have anything that will work for you. Pictures would help too.

When I am looking for something I can't find at the local hardware store I go to the McMaster Carr web site. It is very easy to navigate and the product details are excellent. I bet you will find what you need there. Good luck, Raz
