First nights out in our Escape were cold and we appreciated the warmth and coziness of our new-to-us trailer.
We camped at a beautiful place here on the Olympic Peninsula in WA that we'd never camped at before (the too close to home syndrome) called Salt Creek Recreation Area, a county park beloved by local folks. I highly recommend it for those wanting a beautiful campground, great trails of all types, two different types of beach access, sandy and rocky, and not far from Port Angeles if you need to get out or go out. It is on the Strait of Juan de Fuca with views across of Vancouver Island in B.C.

We had the thrill of seeing a grey whale and baby who were hanging out, coming to the surface, though only slightly, each time we went to the view point over the bay by the campground.

We did wish we had a solar panel to recharge our battery (do they make them for bodies too? ) and I posted a request for suggestions for quick and easy solar so our longer trip next week we are better prepared.

We have only a short list of things to do to make our Escape more adaptable to our camping habits, over all it was a love fest of appreciation for such a wonderful trailer! Mike kept saying "I love this trailer!". I am the fussy one, with various health challenges, and the natural foam rubber pads we added made sleeping more comfy for me, but will also be adding a wool 'topper'.

Woohoo!!! Congrats on getting out with your new Escape.
And thanks for the tip on the camp site. I am bookmarking and making notes of recommendations from people for when I venture into an area.

I am picking my Escape 19 up this Friday, and we are excited too.

Salt Creek, what a wonderful place. I happened by it 2 years ago.

For people interested they do have hookups there as well as a dry camping section. I opted for hookups and had a campsite in the front row for a beautiful view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. I too saw a whale but no baby.

This park is just west of Port Angeles. I was there the night before I caught the Ferry to Victorial. It's definitely a place I'll go back to if I ever get to that area again.

The seas around Salt Creek county park must be a gray whale haven! Peter and I camped there about two years ago on our way to Victoria B.C. and we too saw a gray whale, feeding in the cove to the west of the park. We selected a campsite with a view of the Strait and watched the sun set as we roasted sausages over our camp fire. Definitely a park that we would be happy to stay at again.
