OK, this was the view yesterday. Today it's pouring rain and we are rethinking our retirement plans. I'm not sure I can take the rain in my "golden" years and we certainly won't have enough money to get RAV and Toad and ourselves off the Island and back home if we settled here. We want to be able to pack up and go. Not spend a day just getting off the Island.

This return trip for an overheight vehicle, 33' in total length was $312, which included $17.50 reservation fee each way. We figure by the time we retire we'd be held hostage here by finanaces.

Yes, the ROCK is a very pretty place to live if you need to get there and back on a fairly regular basis. Ferry services say they want now to cut sailings that are running less than full, so that'd be the early and late sailings.

IMHO: These ferrys are part of our provincial highway system(s) and as such should be FREE... Like thats NEVER gunna happen..........

When we lived on the Island (Nanaimo) we never had any desire to leave, I would fly off periodically for work, but that was it. It is paradise for Canada, I am envious of our friends who still live on the Island.
