For those who enjoyed the Quartzsite gathering

I thought you might be interested in this bit of trivia: A newly formed Canadian mineral exploration company put out a news release on Febuary 14th. They are drilling and testing and they estimate that 1.2 million ounces of gold lie in the ground under and around "Dome Rock" aka Sugarloaf Peak. This link tells about it including about investing in the company.

there are mines all over the desert there. MANY claims. Its a large segment of the population there.

Most of the mines are for other stones but I have seen folks get small amounts of the shiny stuff.

There is a HUGE gold mine south of town as well. Don't know how profitable it is tho.

Twenty something years ago when my grand folks lived in the big Q we spent several winters prospecting. Never found a bunch of gold but it sure was dirty and fun work. They also had a chrysocolla claim North east of town somewhere. I have some rocks from there.
