Forest fires in BC/Alberta

Thought I would post these links for those planning a Yukon/Alaska trip this spring or summer. The current forest fires situation around Fort St. John and Dawson Creek BC is very active and early.

Yup and having a pretty dry April and record temps the past week its putting the fire danger close to high across the province..... they have already announced water restrictions are going to start real early this year....

Campers need to take extra care this spring...

I've been following along on Facebook, the pictures are absolutely devastating. I see the entire town of Fort McMurray, Alberta has been evacuated. More than 80,000 residences and businesses. So very sad.

I know that a few members are from Fort McMurray and I hope they have found a place to stay. There is a large outpouring from business around Edmonton, with some hotels giving free rooms and meals. Its amazing that there were no injuries or deaths but as of this morning 1600 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. Today, they fear will be worst that yesterday if the winds start up again. Say a prayer to all those folks!

To the members here who are from Fort McMurray my thoughts and prays go out to you all....

I hope you are all safe and being taken well care where ever you have found yourselves taking refuge.

1600 homes and buildings lost so far... with each hour the news just gets worse.... a devastation of a community that is just to hard to imagine...

I hope you are all able to return soon Fort Mc soon and have the strength to rebuild.
