Four Cylinders Pull One Trailer
We finally got our 17' Bigfoot on the road, and our elderly Previa pulled it without a problem. I even got it up to 70 on the straight and flat.
We barely cruised above sea level, of course, but it took the little hills without dropping below 55. We're planning a trip over one of the passes-- 4-5K feet-- so we can see what the preformance is like when the air gets a little thinner.
The bunking arrangement was not too bad for four adults, though we need to make a few adjustments. And we could comfortably feed five at the table. Except for the fridge dying, the kitchen was very effecient.
We're pretty happy with our little lightweight. Thanks for all the help we got when we were shopping. :wave

Hello Kitty, some questions re: Bigfoot
Hi I was reading some messages here, trying to learn more about the Bigfoot trailers. We currently own a 13 foot Boler, but with the 2 of us plus 2 kids it is just too small. We would like to buy a 17 foot Bigfoot. Noticed on your post you mentioned bunks. Does yours have bunks? That is a requirement for our kids (they do not like to share a bed) If your can describe your trailer and the layout that would be great too. Would love to see some pictures if possible. We live in a really small town, and would have to travel if we found a Bigfoot to purchase it. We sure would like any info you would have. Ps: what do you have for a tow vehicle? We have a mini van, and soon to purchase a 1/2 ton. Thanks alot, waiting for your reply.

Hi, Dan!
Bunks we got!
My "kids" are both old enough to vote, and top 5'8", so the bunks had to be built to accomodate adults, not just kids. Here's one picture of the bunks: <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3eac1e99599a8BF-gaucho.JPG/>
Our younger daughter sleeps in the upper fold down bunk, while Doug (6') and I sleep on the Goucho beneath. Our other daughter gets the dinette bunk to herself. These are not house-quality bunks, but we all slept well enough and plan to make a few little modifications-- mostly involving sheets/blankets-- to make them more comfortable.
I posted more pix of the little darling at :
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/read.php?TID=2119
We are towing with a 12 year old, 4 cylinder minivan. We did run out of water rather faster than expected. The fresh water tank is only 30 gallons, and we think that the non-sailor guest who accompanied us (he slept in the car) took a "Hollywood shower" rather than the "Navy shower" that the rest of us are used to when we're not plugged in to shore services.

More Bigfoot
Andy, this site http://www.bigfootrv.com/traveltrailers/1500.html
has the layouts of the current Bigfoot trailers, I don't think they have
changed too much. We pull ours with a Safari (Astro van) - with
a pickup, it should be a piece of cake. I haven't pulled any other trailers,
but it seems to pull without problem at any speed we can maintain.

It would help if we know what area of the world you live in, andy. you might live right next door to a dealer, but don't know it. :)

Thanks for the pictures
It does look great! I have one new concern though? The dinette bed is only 40 inches? You can't be serious! Our little 13 foot boler's bed is 42 inches. We have added a board under that to make it 46 inches, and that is still cramped! Yikes now I think I will never find the perfect lightweight trailer... You mentioned you and your hubby sleep on the bottom bunk? How wide is that bed? My hubby is 6 foot tall also, and I am well um, er, a 5'6" big boned gal! We need some space! By the way we are in a small town in North Central Alberta, close to the Alberta Saskatchewan border. We also have a minivan. Chevy Venture 6 cyl. Front wheel drive, I wonder if it can tow the Bigfoot? It tows the 13 foot boler just fine. But that trailer is too small, like I said dinette bed is cramped, floor space is at a minium, no toilet or shower! (what a luxury!) But it is very light to tow on the other hand! Thanks also to the Bigfoot website, I had a chance to look at the floor plans.

45" x 75"
Andy,
I just remeasured the beds and the dinette is an irregular 45" x 75" and the gaucho is 40" x 75". Small, yes! We are going to give the dinette a try next time we take it out.
Kitted out, the Bigfoot claims to weigh 2880, tho' I have as yet to get it to a scale. My car is ratted to haul 3500, and we seem to be okay.
Ummm, why did I call you "Dan" in my first reply? =sigh= I miss my brain cells. SOme of them were really special to me.

Large Bed
Hi Andy have you ever looked at A Scamp 5th. wheel? The bed is A queen size. More than enouf room for 2 large people.
if you are going to get A pickup truck that is what you would need for the 5th. wheel. Plus you get away from all the towing problems of trailer hitches and wdh hookups, sway bars. Around 2500lbs.
Front bedroom model sleeps 4
Side bathroom model sleeps 6
You can pull it with A small 6 cyc. pickup.
