Watching the news last week.....lotta talk about how high fuel may go this year and one fellow said $5 a gallon by this time next year.
Anyhow, this "egg" camper is starting to look like a really good thing to have. We are really glad we got ours and look forward to next season.
what do you all think? Fuel gonna sideline a few more biggies?Think I could trade a uhaul for a diesel pusher MH?..jk

If fuel gets to $5.00/ gallon I'm sure it will sideline a lot of things. Think about this everything has to travel by truck, fuel goes up food goes up, everything goes up except your paycheck. Where we live gas is as of last week $3.35/ gallon, my wife has to take our son to and from school because there is no bus, it's 25 miles each way and she has worked at the same place for more than one year for the same $8.00 /hr also 25 miles away. And another thing, back when we were traveling with a carnival and the gas prices went way up people stopped spending money on entertainment, rving could also be considered entertainment.

...at that rate, $65.00/tank to fill up our Plymouth. At 8 M/G we'll go same distance per tank but MAN its gunna git plenty 'spendy' to do any real touring with the car n trailer !!! (....about 100miles/tank!!) Might as well just scoop up one of those behemouth 45ft'er motor coaches and travel/live in style .

At about $1.20/litre here in the Vancouver area, we're already looking at over $5/gallon, but that's one of our larger ones. That's still about $4.50 a US gallon. Locally, the gas seems to go up and down in a random, almost daily fashion. (my son's little rocket that like premium has it parked as the premium is already close to $6/imp. gallon - $1.32/litre.)
Locally, the trick is to drive up the Valley until you get out of the high transit tax, can save upto 11 cents a litre.
If I have a reason to drive across the border...Sumas WA, I can save a lot now that the dollars as quite similar.

Thats all very well n good IF you live close to the border (as we USED to), but with an average border wait now averaging 3/4 to an hour or more, this practice has become rather useless.
We now favor our second fuel up choice which is fueling up OUTSIDE the GVRD, in our case, meaning Mission B.C.
CostCo/Stewpid Store are the two low cost fuel options nowadays. I'd venture to say that finding a low cost 'high test' fueling station (premium) is an oximorom???
Leading me to ask (myself) would I ever consider 'parking' our mega hp-owered Plymomuth??

This just came in this morning from an online newsletter I receive... I'm in the transportation industry:
Diesel Price Forecast to Rise
Truckers News Online
January 12, 2011
Diesel likely will cost 41 cents more on average during 2011 than it did during 2010, according to the latest Short-Term Energy Outlook from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.
2010, the average on-highway retail diesel price was $2.99. EIA expects that to rise to $3.40 in 2011 and $3.52 in 2012.
Meanwhile, EIA believes regular-grade gasoline retail prices will rise from an average of $2.78 per gallon in 2010 to $3.17 per gallon in 2011 and $3.29 per gallon in 2012.
“Rising crude oil prices are the primary reason for higher retail prices, but higher gasoline and distillate refining margins are also expected to contribute to higher retail prices,” EIA said

Several posts have been removed from this thread. While fuel prices are a concern to our community, please remember that political discussions are not appropriate for this forum. Our members hold a wide variety of political opinions and we are an international community. What we have in common is our passion for Fiberglass RVs and camping. Please keep the focus on that.
Thanks!
